HYMNS, FOLK SONGS & COMPOSER STUDY

Class Description: Taking a cue from Charlotte Mason’s areas of focus for musical development, this class will learn at least one hymn and one folk song by heart each month, as well as explore the compositions and lives of several masters from the western classical tradition. We’ll discuss historical and cultural context, engage with poetic and scriptural considerations, practice listening actively and responding creatively, and develop good intonation and healthy, natural singing technique.

BEGINNING GROUP PIANO

Class Description: Gather ‘round for an introduction to the theory and technique of reading music and playing piano! Each student will have time at the keyboard as well as participating in group activities to learn musical terminology and notation. Budding pianists with up to a year of experience are welcome, as are brand-new students! Practicing at home is expected, so access to a piano or keyboard with full-size, weighted keys is a must. Groups will be limited to 6 students.
